My journey with Lowe’s India started as a campus graduate in August 2015. While in college, I always dreamt of being a part of a large corporation that I could work for. I heard of Lowe’s through an off-campus event, and when I heard of what Lowe’s did as a company, I wanted to give it a try.

It was a very proud moment for me, when I was amongst the 7 selected from the 470 odd candidates who participated. I was so excited getting the offer letter from Lowe’s that I distributed sweets to my family and friends. It finally dawned on me – I had landed MY FIRST JOB! After a series of technical, soft skill training which lasted a month and half, I was assigned to a team. Being a fresher, I had questions in my mind about how IT would work, especially in a large organization like Lowe’s. My peers and team members were all supportive, and guided me to settle down, and now when I look back, I feel that I have accomplished and crossed a major milestone in my life.

I am a part of the workforce management tool used by Lowe’s Companies globally for determining utilization of field resources in the best possible way. As I completed 18 months with Lowe’s, I looked back and realize that my learnings have considerably increased. I was promoted from associate software engineer to a software engineer, and my skill sets have improved drastically. I am proud that I am part of a company where all the leaders, colleagues and stakeholders understand the bigger picture, so we are ultimately working towards a single purpose!

The thing about Lowe’s is that it has a very open culture, where every leader is very down to earth. When we had a purpose event in Bangalore, our CEO, President and Chairman of the Board, Robert Niblock was here, along with our CIO, Paul Ramsay and our CHRO, Jennifer Weber. Apart from talking at the Townhall, all three of them interacted closely with all the employees, and what was cool was that we even clicked selfies with Robert and Paul!  We also have a very diverse yet inclusive culture, where employee engagement through fun and sports events is given equal importance. For me, Lowe’s is a second home. I have made a lot of friends here, right from my director to my peer group. I love coming to work every day, greeting each other with smiling faces, enjoying our collective success as a team, having a cup of tea together, it just makes me feel good!

So here is a big shout out to my team that graduated to the next level with me and a big thank you to all our leaders who have guided, mentored and made us who we are today!
