I spent a week with our team in Bengaluru, and as I was traveling back to the home office in the U.S., I couldn’t help but reflect on the journey we have had as an organization in the past three years. As the chief information officer of Lowe’s Companies Inc., I am proud of the progress we have made in delivering technology that enables us to live our purpose – to help people love where they live. All our teams have played an important part in helping us fulfil this promise to our customers and as part of our global technology team will continue to deliver the capabilities we need to be a leading omni-channel retailer.

With the energy, openness and creativity that the teams on both sides of the globe share, we have built a strong extension of Lowe’s in Bengaluru. Starting with just 15 people in 2014, our Bengaluru team now has more than 900 people! As with similar projects, there were uncertainties when we began our journey – questions on what roles we would hire for, where we would work, how we would work together and deliver results sitting thousands of miles apart, how would we celebrate our cultural differences…many, many questions! But together, we have overcome many of our challenges and are evolving with time. I am very proud to have been a part of this journey with the team.

The road ahead is not going to be easy, and it will have challenges and roadblocks, but I am confident that the teams across the locations will overcome these together – as one team, irrespective of where on the map we work or what time zone we are in. What makes me truly proud is that all our team members live our purpose and values, and demonstrate commitment, vitality and passion. I am genuinely humbled to be on this journey with our team!
